As a digital nomad living in Medellín, I’m always looking for cafés that make remote work easier, whether that means reliable Wi-Fi, good coffee, plenty of seating, or just the right atmosphere to focus. Sometimes I want a calm place to do deep work, and other times I’m more productive with a little energy around me. If you’re looking for the best cafés in Medellín for remote work, these are the spots I kept coming back to.

1. Pergamino

Neighborhood: Laureles
Best for: an all-around work session with good food and solid coffee

Pergamino is one of my favorite places in Medellín to both eat and work. The coffee and drinks are solid, and it’s one of those cafés that works well whether you’re stopping in for a shorter session or staying through lunch. The outdoor garden patio has a really nice atmosphere and plenty of seating, especially if you can grab one of the booth-style spots around the edges. Downstairs doesn’t have many plugs, though, so it’s not always ideal for longer work sessions. Upstairs is better if you need outlets, even if it’s a little less aesthetic. It can get crowded at certain hours, but overall it’s still one of my top picks.

2. Bistrea

Neighborhood: Belén
Best for: productivity and a quieter work session

Bistrea is one of my favorite cafés to work from in Belén. It’s small, but I actually like that because it tends to stay quieter and less chaotic than some of the cafés in Laureles. I’d often come for a coffee or small breakfast, get some work done, and then stay for the menú del día. The food here is phenomenal, and the huevos Bistrea were one of my favorites. They also do great juices and frappes. Most of the seating is outdoors, but it’s largely covered, which makes it workable even when the weather turns. It also has several outlets outside, which makes a huge difference if you want to work for a few hours.

3. Santa Leña

Neighborhood: Laureles
Best for: longer work sessions and group-friendly seating

Santa Leña is a great option in Laureles if you want more space than the average café. The food was delicious, the juices were great, and it works well whether you’re stopping in for breakfast or settling in with your laptop. The lower level has the bakery and fresh bread counter, along with some places to eat or work, but the upstairs is what really makes it stand out. It’s much more open, with lots of room for solo work or meeting up with someone, and there are plenty of plugs. For digital nomads who care about practicality just as much as aesthetics, this is one of the better setups.

4. Rituales

Neighborhood: Laureles
Best for: a quiet afternoon work session

Located off a quiet side street near Segundo Parque de Laureles, Rituales is a great choice if you want a calmer, more laptop-friendly café. It’s a smaller coffee shop, but the second floor adds extra seating and gives it more of a mini coworking feel than you might expect at first. The Wi-Fi is fast, the coffee is strong, and the overall atmosphere feels quiet, pretty, and relaxed, with art on the walls and a more tucked-away location off the busiest part of the neighborhood. I’d recommend it more for coffee and focused work than for a full meal — the kind of place where you can easily settle in for an afternoon.

5. Monstera

Neighborhood: Laureles
Best for: creative vibes and a stylish work session

Monstera is one of the more visually memorable cafés on this list. It has a lush, design-forward feel with lots of greenery, a rooftop or upstairs patio, and a more creative atmosphere than your typical laptop café. I liked it as a place to grab good coffee or food and work for a bit when I wanted somewhere with more personality. It can attract plenty of laptop users, so it doesn’t always feel like a quiet hidden local spot, but if you want an aesthetic place with a fun, modern vibe, Monstera is a good one to include.

6. Hija Mía Nómada

Neighborhood: El Poblado
Best for: a stylish but practical café to work from

There are a few Hija Mía locations around the city, but Nómada stands out as one of the more practical ones for remote work. It’s a bit bigger, with plenty of seating and a mix of indoor and outdoor areas, so it’s easier to settle into than some of the smaller cafés around Medellín. The Wi-Fi was solid, and overall it felt like a dependable place to work without overthinking it. If you prefer a quieter, smaller setting, Hija Mía Manila is just a couple of blocks away.

7. Café Revolución

Neighborhood: Laureles
Best for: a simple, reliable work session

Cafe Revolución (Laureles) is a great casual work cafe if you want solid Wi-Fi, good coffee, and an affordable breakfast or brunch in Laureles. The covered terrace has an open-air, plant-filled setup that feels comfortable for a few hours of laptop work, and it opens early at 7:00 am. It’s compact, so it’s not the most spacious cafe on this list, but it’s a dependable option for a relaxed morning work session.

8. Vibras Cafe

Neighborhood: Belén
Best for: a casual coffee-and-laptop session

Vibras Cafe is a solid option in Belén if you want a modern, comfortable space to work from for a few hours. It has a mix of indoor seating and a front terrace, and the setup feels more open and spacious than some of the smaller neighborhood coffee shops. I liked it as a casual place to grab coffee, breakfast, and get some work done without needing a full coworking setup. The overall vibe is stylish and relaxed, which makes it a good change of scenery if you’re based in Belén.

9. Josefina Restaurante

Neighborhood: Laureles
Best for: a relaxed morning or casual work session

Josefina has a really beautiful outdoor terrace setup, with seating outside on rock-style benches surrounded by plants. It feels calm and a little different from the typical laptop café. The terrace is covered from the sun and rain, which makes it a nice place to hang out for a while, especially with a pastry or American-style breakfast. They also bake bread there, so it has more of a panadería feel than a standard coffee shop. The main downside is that the outdoor seating doesn’t have plugs, so it’s better for a lighter work session than a full workday. Inside, there are only a couple of tables, and the space is very small.

10. Azul Selva

Neighborhood: El Poblado
Best for: a calm atmosphere with stable Wi-Fi and outlets

Azul Selva has one of the nicest atmospheres on this list for getting work done. The open green terrace makes it feel calm and airy, and it’s the kind of place that’s easy to settle into for a few hours with your laptop. The Wi-Fi was stable, and overall it felt more work-friendly than a lot of prettier cafés that aren’t actually practical. If atmosphere matters to you, Azul Selva is a really good pick.

Medellín has no shortage of good coffee, but not every café is equally good for remote work. These were the cafés I found most useful for everything from deep work to more creative work sessions.
